The Territorial Secretary for Commerce, Siniša Lazić, oversaw the opening ceremonies today in Novi Sad for the international event “Bread Days”, a festival participated in by producers of bread grains, flour, bread and pastries.

"Half of everything that is produced in Vojvodina today is agricultural and baked goods and they represent one of the specificities of our region and they show its potential and strivings that, as a modern European region, brings attention to itself through creativity, work, and products, which can compete with a number of world and European brands”, said Lazić and he emphasized that the territorial administration is striving to make various development projects and funds a partner in the further development of the bakery and mill industries.

Among the exhibitors at this event was also the Fidelinka Company from Subotica, whose flour type 400 was granted the right to wear the seal of “The Best of Vojvodina”, said Lazić and invited other producers to compete for this prestigious recognition.

He added that the development of this industry has been assisted through funds for development of commerce and agriculture, through other projects of the Executive Council and also that it is needed for these as well as products from other areas to have good placement and to be established as having exclusive quality and high standards.

Within the framework of the following programmes of the event they will also hold an exhibition of bakery products, a grading of the quality of bread, several lectures, and films will be shown with the theme being bread. The festival “Bread Days” lasts until December 9th.
